Three Univision Stations Win Prestigious Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards for Outstanding News Series

(NYSE: UVN), the nation's leading Spanish-language media company, today announced that three of its owned-and-operated stations - KMEX-TV, Los Angeles, WXTV-TV, New York and KTVW-TV, Phoenix - were each recognized for excellence in journalism, receiving the prestigious Radio-Television News Directors Association's (RTNDA) Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding News Series.

    KMEX-TV, Los Angeles, won for its series "Nuestros Angeles de las Americas." This series followed a Costa Rican marching band in its quest to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade.
    WXTV-TV, New York, won for its series "Sonrie Colombia." This series chronicled a group of doctors who traveled to Columbia to perform reconstructive surgery on children who were born with the birth defect of a cleft palate.
    KTVW-TV, Phoenix, won for its series "La Chona City vs. The Mummies." This series examined the competition between two Mexican towns over which should be considered the "Mummy Capital of Mexico."
    The RTNDA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
