State Street Global Advisors Expands Global Active Equity Team with New Hire

State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT) and the largest institutional fund manager in the world¹, announced today that it has appointed Chee Ooi to senior portfolio manager in its global active equity group. Based in Boston, Ooi will join an experienced team responsible for managing SSgA’s actively managed portfolios. He will report to Didier Rosenfeld, managing director and head of EAFE (Europe, Australia and Far East) and global strategies for SSgA.

Ooi joins SSgA from Citi Investment Research where he was a director and senior quantitative analyst in the quantitative research group. He has gained industry-wide recognition for having pioneered the application of classification and regression three techniques in stock selection modeling. At SSgA, Ooi will be responsible for research and portfolio management across its quantitative international active equity strategies. He joins a global team with investment professionals in Boston, Paris, London, Montreal, Sydney, Toronto, Tokyo and Hong Kong, who manage active risk-controlled strategies that include single-country, regional and global assignments managed against a wide-variety of client-specified benchmarks.

Ooi holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
