McDonald's To Expand Breakfast Menu After Many Years

(RTTNews) - McDonald's Corp. (MCD) is adding new items to its breakfast menu for the first time in more than a decade.

In an earnings call on Tuesday following the release of the company's third-quarter results, CEO Steve Easterbrook said that the burger giant will launch new breakfast items as part of its efforts to deal with slowing U.S. sales.

"But we are also, we haven't had much new food news, our breakfast for a little while and you'll see some new food news in the fourth quarter this year, which I and our team are excited about it," Easterbook said during the earnings call.

On Wednesday, the burger chain revealed the planned launch of its "Triple Breakfast Stacks" on Twitter.

"The secret's out. We were inspired by your love for menu hacks and our 'Secret Menu,' so we created a NEW breakfast item: Triple Breakfast Stacks. Big mornings are going to be stacked in your favor starting 11/1," McDonald's tweeted.

McDonald's Triple Breakfast Stacks will hit menus in November, to be available for a limited time.

According to a Business Insider report citing internal documents, McDonald's will introduce three "Triple Breakfast Stacks" to its menu.

According to the internal documents, Triple Breakfast Stacks will be a "popular choice for meat lovers and people looking to grab a hearty breakfast on the go!"

The sandwiches will be available in three versions - Biscuit, McMuffin, and McGriddles, with three times as much meat as the typical breakfast sandwich. Each will contain two sausage patties in addition to bacon, two layers of American cheese, and an egg.

McDonald's has recently rolled out some new breakfast deals, including $1 Sausage McMuffins and the Sausage Biscuits.
