EMC Announces Significant Enhancements to Enterprise Collaborative Environment
HOPKINTON, Mass., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, today announced significant upgrades to its award-winning collaboration offering - EMC Documentum eRoom Enterprise. New features in version 7.3 improve business process efficiencies and enable organizations to make better decisions in a timely manner. A live online seminar unveiling Documentum Enterprise eRoom 7.3 will be hosted on Tuesday, August 16th. For registration information, please visit http://www.documentum.com/events/2005/08_16_05_eRoom.htm.
Documentum eRoom Enterprise 7.3 allows teams to easily model their critical business processes within an easy-to-use environment and eliminates barriers involved with building dynamic, team-based applications. It is the first major offering that provides automated "dashboard" capabilities for increased visibility across multiple active project workspaces. It also leverages the EMC Documentum enterprise content management (ECM) platform, the world's first major platform based on a unified architecture, to ensure that content generated adheres to compliance controls and can be seamlessly shared with other Documentum applications.
"We currently have approximately 1700 eRooms that manage large programs such as our internal Global Portal Implementation and assist our scientists in sharing knowledge about new medicines in development. With over 64,000 employees worldwide, it is challenging to successfully manage team communication and coordination across different departments on critical projects," said Steve Taylor, Global Information Development at AstraZeneca. "EMC has consistently delivered collaboration solutions that meet the needs of our business and we expect Documentum eRoom Enterprise 7.3 will make team collaboration even simpler and more effective."
New features in EMC Documentum eRoom Enterprise 7.3
The combination of these new features allows organizations to become more agile in managing its collaborative business processes and speeds the completion of business-critical projects.
* New Dashboard capabilities enhance project status visibility, enabling users to gain greater oversight into multiple projects, events and tasks. * Instant Messaging (IM) integration enables heightened project awareness and integrated real-time communication through instant messaging for facilitating faster time-to-decisions. Users can leverage their existing IM infrastructure to quickly resolve critical project issues and meet delivery deadlines. * Enhanced content server integration delivers improved team efficiencies. Content created or changed in the EMC Documentum Content Server can be automatically synchronized in a new Linked Folder that notifies project teams of new content. Version 7.3 also provides users convenient access to the EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Integration (ECI) Services where search queries can be easily formulated across all relevant information sources. Teams can then collaborate around the search results and jointly develop responses to business issues such as competitive threats, new discoveries, or new customer demands. * New security features provide selective access to data table records, offering customers more flexibility in configuring external access to data within extranet scenarios such as supplier management or client engagement.
"We are seeing a huge demand from our customers for collaboration solutions that are more integrated with a variety of content management technologies and that are more aligned with their organizations' business processes," said Whitney Tidmarsh, Vice President, Content Management Marketing and Solutions, EMC Software Group. "As a technology leader, we have responded with a number of industry-first features in Documentum eRoom Enterprise 7.3 that truly deliver an enterprise collaborative environment."
