CVS/Pharmacy Partners With Summit Environmental to Offer Flameout(R) to Consumers Nationwide
LONGVIEW, Texas, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Leading national retail drugstore chain CVS is introducing Summit Environmental's (BULLETIN BOARD: SEVT) FlameOut(R), a non-toxic, environmentally safe aerosol-can fire extinguisher, in its 5,100 retail locations nationwide by the end of September. CVS becomes the first pharmacy to roll out the fire safety product.
"We are excited about the opportunity to reach the CVS consumers in their communities. Statistics show that there are nearly 20,000 injuries each year as a result of fire, which can easily be avoided by consumers keeping a product like FlameOut(R) in their home," said Summit Environmental Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Keith Parker.
FlameOut(R) Aerosol Fire Extinguisher was designed to put out spot fires, those relatively small fires caused by campfires, cooking, overheated outdoor equipment, or other household fires that start small and if treated quickly, will not spread and cause injury and damage. Many leading insurance companies also offer consumers a savings on their home insurance premiums if they have a product like FlameOut(R) in the house.
Unlike ordinary fire extinguishing products, FlameOut(R)'s unique chemical properties are proven effective to stop spot fires and, more importantly, prevent the fire from spreading or re-igniting. FlameOut(R) contains the ability to suppress a fire three ways: by removing oxygen, which smothers the fire; removing the heat to cool the fire; and encapsulating the fire to inhibit re-ignition.
The product is also the only aerosol can fire extinguisher validated and listed to the requirements for portable fire extinguishers (NFPA 10) by Applied Research Laboratories. FlameOut(R), the chemical concentrate encased in the can, is non-toxic and is one of only seven certified replacements for the ozone-depleting, globally banned fire-fighting agent Halon by the U.S. EPA SNAP Program. FlameOut(R) Fire Suppressor is the only environmentally friendly product listed by the United States Forestry Service used in forest fires on its 5100-307 List.
Another key benefit of FlameOut(R) is that unlike water or powdered extinguishers, its ingredients will not cause residual damage. FlameOut(R) is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, is easy to use and involves an effortless cleanup.
"We believe that FlameOut(R) is proving to be a pioneer in the fire safety industry," said Parker. "We have created a revolutionary product that is successfully stamping out spot fires, providing an easy solution to prevent potentially devastating, emotional and financial loss. By partnering with CVS to distribute FlameOut(R) in their stores, it allows us to offer the product to a wider range of consumers nationwide."
The distribution of FlameOut(R) in CVS/pharmacy stores follows the product's successful launch at nationally recognized Target stores nationwide over Labor Day weekend. CVS is America's largest retail pharmacy, operating more than 5,100 retail and specialty pharmacy stores in 37 states and the District of Columbia. With more than 40 years of dynamic growth in the retail pharmacy industry, CVS is committed to being the easiest pharmacy retailer for customers to use.
