    MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2005--

Clifford The Big Red Dog(TM) Goes to Washington D.C. to Bring Fun to the Breakfast Table

Cascadian Farm(R), a leader in the organic industry, today announced the availability of Clifford's Guide to the Guidelines, an online guide found at www.cascadianfarm.com designed to help parents digest the most recent USDA Dietary Guidelines with specific recommendations for kid nutrition.
Clifford's Guide to the Guidelines offers parents solid advice regarding how they can best incorporate important health recommendations into their children's diets. To celebrate the launch of the Guide and Cascadian Farm Clifford Crunch, an organic cereal made specifically for kid nutrition, Clifford The Big Red Dog enjoyed breakfast with kids at Center Cafe in historic Union Station this morning.
"Clifford's Guide to the Guidelines provides moms and dads with 'bona-fide' ways to get their children to eat smarter," said Greg Thompson, Cascadian Farm marketing manager. "The Guide helps parents understand the key recommendations of the USDA Guidelines while also getting kids excited about healthy eating."
The Guide provides parents with a basic understanding of the new USDA Guidelines, as well as a breakdown of seven key ways to get kids on a healthy path. The Guide covers calorie intake, physical activity and recommendations regarding certain foods, among other topics.
Clifford's Guide to the Guidelines is being launched in concert with Cascadian Farm Clifford Crunch. This great tasting organic cereal is an excellent source of fiber and a good source of calcium and vitamins E and D. According to the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, kids are falling short of their recommended intake for fiber, calcium and vitamin E. In fact, a national nutrition survey shows that the median fiber intake is almost 6g fiber/1000 kcal/day, which is less than half of the recommended intake. The good news is that beyond great taste, one serving of Cascadian Farm Clifford Crunch has 5 grams of dietary fiber, which helps promote digestive and overall health; vitamin E, to help keep the body's immune system healthy; and calcium and vitamin D, to aid the building of strong bones and teeth.
As with all Cascadian Farm products, the cereal is certified organic. Certified organic foods are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and contain no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
