Apple Starts Offering Unlocked, SIM-Free IPhone 6, 6 Plus In US
(RTTNews) - Apple Inc. (AAPL) on Tuesday started offering unlocked, SIM-free versions of its latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models in the US, nearly four months after the launch of its smartphones.
The unlocked iPhones are available via Apple's online and retail stores. The Cupertino, California tech giant has not changed the pricing and it remains same as the unsubsidized models, starting from $649 for a 16GB iPhone 6 to $949 for a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus.
The SIM-free versions are available in all colors and storage capacities with a shipping time of 3-5 business days.
The unlocked SIM-free model allow users to insert a nano-SIM card from any supported GSM network provider of their choice.
The unsubsidized T-Mobile version of iPhone 6 sold by Apple since its launch have been an unlocked version, but shipped with a T-Mobile carrier SIM. Apple now has now started specifically marketing the SIM-free model which will not be shipped with any carrier-specific SIM.
AAPL is currently trading at $106.81, up $0.56 or 0.53%, on the Nasdaq.
