American Express Co. Reveals 19% Rise In Q3 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - American Express Co. (AXP) reported a profit for its third quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $1.36 billion, or $1.50 per share. This was up from $1.14 billion, or $1.20 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.48 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 8.6% to $8.44 billion. This was up from $7.77 billion last year.
