AMD Promotes Mario Rivas to Executive Vice President of Computing Products Group

AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced that Mario Rivas has been promoted to executive vice president of Computing Products Group (CPG). In this role, Rivas will be responsible for driving the development, strategy and management for AMD’s broad and growing portfolio of consumer and commercial microprocessor solutions. Rivas will report to the Office of the CEO, comprised of Hector Ruiz, chairman and chief executive officer and Dirk Meyer, president and chief operating officer. Rivas brings more than 25 years of semiconductor management experience to this strategic position. He joined AMD in 2005 and most recently headed AMD’s Office of Strategy Management, where he led the company’s strategic planning process. Dirk Meyer had been acting executive vice president of CPG since his promotion to President and COO in January 2006. He also held numerous management positions in Motorola’s semiconductor and communications business sectors. Rivas holds a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from the University of Central America in El Salvador, and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and in management, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
