Amazon.com Q4 Profit Surges - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $239 million or $0.51 per share, up from $97 million or $0.21 per share in the same period last year.
On average, 39 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.66 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Sales increased 20 percent to $25.59 billion from $21.27 billion last year. Analysts expected sales of $26.06 billion.
Looking ahead to the first quarter, the company has forecast sales in the range of $18.2 billion to $19.9 billion. Analysts currently expect first-quarter sales of $19.67 billion.
