TXU Energy Empowers Local Students to Reach for New Heights

DALLAS, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- TXU Energy announced today the names of five college-bound students from the Dallas-Fort Worth area who will receive a combined total of $12,500 in scholarships as part of the "Alcanzando Nuevas Metas" (Reaching New Heights) program. "Alcanzando Nuevas Metas" honors students who demonstrate academic excellence and strong community involvement. TXU Energy launched this scholarship program in association with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF).

"TXU Energy knows that the future depends on the excellence of the next generation of leaders. That is why it's imperative to help young scholars in their quest for educational success," said Jim Burke, TXU Energy senior vice president of Consumer Markets.

The 2005 TXU Energy/HSF Scholars are: * Maria Acosta (Fort Worth) * Samantha Clark (Richardson) * Alana Montoro (Garland) * Jessica Nuanes (McKinney) * Michael Peguero (Forth Worth).
