The New York Times Travel Show Signs Outside Magazine as Media Sponsor

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 2005--The New York Times announced today that Outside magazine will be the print media sponsor for The Times's second annual travel trade and consumer show that will be held March 4-6 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The New York Times Travel Show will feature the Outside Pavilion as part of the overall show experience. As a sponsor of the show, Outside magazine will host experts, such as professional whitewater kayaker Brad Ludden, and will provide attendees the opportunity to try activities, such as kayaking and scuba diving. Outside reaches nearly 2.3 million readers and will promote the show through print and online advertising targeted to travel enthusiasts.

"The New York Times Travel Show allows people to explore different travel ideas under one roof and, at the same time, try activities, like kayaking or rock climbing."
The New York Times Travel Show 2005 consists of nearly 500 exhibitors promoting spas, cruises and destinations from around the world including Africa, Asia, Australia/South Pacific, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, Central America, South America and the U.S. In addition, many of the exhibiting companies promote active trips featuring a wide range of outdoor sports, including backpacking, biking, camping, climbing, fishing, golf, kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling, whitewater rafting and winter sports.
American Express will return as presenting sponsor for the 2005 show. And supporting sponsors include Amtrak, Carnival Cruise Lines, Islands of the Bahamas and Washington, D.C. Convention and Tourism Corporation.
Exhibitors at the show will include American Express Vacations, Aruba Tourist Authority, Explorers Corner, Funjet Vacations, Globus & Cosmos, Grand Expeditions, Japan National Tourist Office, Linblad Expeditions, Mango African Safaris and N.O.L.S.
To kick off the weekend on Friday March 4, The Times will present a series of trade-related seminars for industry leaders. Throughout the weekend, attendees will enjoy two days of exclusive travel deals, family entertainment and informative travel seminars by experts such as Arthur Frommer and Rick Steves, NY1 travel reporter Val D'Elia and radio personality Stephanie Abrams.
As part of The Travel Show, The New York Times and TCS Expeditions are offering an opportunity for travel enthusiasts to win a 24-day, private jet vacation for two to some of the most exotic and ancient places in the world. The prize will be awarded at The New York Times Travel Show on Saturday, March 5, 2005.
Many industry associations are supporting the show including: Association of Promotion of Tourism to Africa (APTA), Africa Travel Association (ATA), Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA), Cruise Lines Industry Association (CLIA), Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
