The New York Times Company Regional Media Group Names Terrence Williams Vice President, Human Resources

The New York Times Company announced today that Terrence Williams, director, talent acquisition, The New York Times newspaper, has been named vice president, human resources and organizational development for the Company’s Regional Media Group, effective January 1. The announcement was made by Mary Jacobus, president and chief operating officer of the Regional Media Group, to whom he will report. "Terrence will be a tremendous asset to our management team,” Ms. Jacobus said. "His recruiting experience and knowledge of the Company will benefit us, and his leadership will be critical in identifying and developing the talent we need to continue to grow our businesses.” In his new role, Mr. Williams, 39, will be responsible for leading human resource initiatives, including selection, performance management, succession planning and organizational design and development, for the Group’s 14 daily newspapers. He has been director, talent acquisition since 2006. Previously, he served in the Production department as director of development since July 2003. Before that, he was director, business development for NYT Professional Exchange, Inc. from 2001 to 2003. Mr. Williams joined the Company in human resources for the Times Company’s Shared Service Center in 1998. Before joining The Times, Mr. Williams worked in human resources for Sentara Health System from 1996 to 1998. From 1989 to 1996, he held several leadership positions in the hospitality industry for PepsiCo, Hyatt Hotels and Disney. Mr. Williams received a B.S. degree from Johnson and Wales University in 1989 and an M.S.M. in Human Resources from Troy State University in 2002.
