Symbol Appoints Michael Muller to Lead Asia/Pacific Theater Region

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. and SINGAPORE, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Symbol Technologies, Inc. , The Enterprise Mobility Company(TM), today announced that it has hired Michael Muller as the vice president of the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, effective immediately. He joins the Symbol worldwide sales leadership team and reports directly to Todd Abbott, senior vice president of operations. In this position, Muller is responsible for leading and developing the company's Enterprise Mobility Business in the region.

Muller is a native Australian who will be based at the Symbol APAC headquarters in Singapore. Muller joins Symbol after a 16-year career at Hewlett Packard (HP) in the APAC region. He most recently held the position of vice president and general manager of HP's Enterprise Storage and Sever business for Asia Pacific and Japan, where he oversaw the operation of the company's multi-billion Dollar enterprise storage and sever portfolio. This role included responsibility for sales, marketing, finance and supply chain operations. Prior to this Muller has had broad experience in working across a range of senior sales, marketing and general management positions within Hewlett-Packard in APAC. These include Vice President and General Manager for HP's Business Critical Systems, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for HP Services and Director of Marketing and Channels for HP's Enterprise business.

Muller assumes the role held by Brian Murphy for the last 15 months. Murphy will relocate back to Symbol Headquarters in Holtsville, N.Y., and assume a new position with the company.
