Saks Incorporated Announces Plans to Relocate and Expand Stillwater, M

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 2005--Retailer Saks Incorporated (NYSE:SKS) (the "Company") today announced its plans to relocate and expand its Herberger's store in Stillwater, Minnesota.
    In October 2005, Herberger's will relocate its 67,300 square foot store in the St. Croix Mall in Stillwater to a 95,400 square foot freestanding location nearby. The new location, being vacated by Andersen Corporation, will be completely renovated by the Company prior to the relocation.
    Michael R. MacDonald, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carson Pirie Scott & Co. (which includes Herberger's), commented, "Stillwater is a great market for us, and we are excited about expanding our presence there with our new showcase Herberger's store.     Approximately 200 associates are employed at the Herberger's store. All associates will be transferred to the new location.
    Herberger's stores carry a wide selection of fashion apparel, shoes, and accessories for the entire family, as well as cosmetics, decorative home furnishings, and specialty gift items. The stores feature premier brands and unique specialty merchandise. Brands typically carried in Herberger's stores include Laura Ashley, Jones New York, Lauren, Liz Claiborne, JH Collectibles, Calvin Klein, Relativity, Pursuits, Breckenridge, DKNY Jeans, Ruff Hewn, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Columbia, Consensus, Dooney & Bourke, Nine West, Enzo, Franco Sarto, Bandalino, Born, Timberland, Clarks, Waterford, Jane Seymour home, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Lancome.
    The expanded location further strengthens Herberger's presence in its home state of Minnesota, with sixteen Herberger's stores throughout the state. Herberger's operates a total of 40 stores, with other locations in Colorado, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
    Saks Incorporated currently operates its Saks Department Store Group (SDSG) which consists of 238 department stores under the names of Parisian, Proffitt's, McRae's, Younkers, Herberger's, Carson Pirie Scott, Bergner's, and Boston Store and 38 Club Libby Lu specialty stores. The Company also operates Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises (SFAE), which consists of 58 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and 52 Off 5th stores.
