Report: IPhone 7 Coming Week Of Sept. 12

(RTTNews) - Apple typically schedules its iPhone launch event in September every year. However, the tech giant has not made any official announcement about the new iPhone 7 event date yet.

According to popular and reliable leaker Evan Blass, Apple will ship iPhone 7 during "the week of September 12." He later added in a follow-up tweet a specific date of Friday, September 16 as the actual date of retail release.

"Just to clarify, this refers to the retail release, not the launch event. To be even more specific, it should happen on Friday, Sept. 16th," tweeted Evan Blass, who has been accurate on several mobile device launch dates.

The release date of September 16 for new iPhone seems to be little earlier than usual. The iPhone 6s hit stores on September 25, while iPhone 6 was shipped on September 19 and iPhone 5s on September 20.

The success of the latest iPhone is really important for Apple after it reported the first-ever year-over-year decline in iPhone sales in its second quarter and probably would report same during its third quarter as well. Sales of iPhones contribute about two-thirds of Apple's revenue and a major chunk of its profit.

Meanwhile, many reports suggest that this year's iPhone will only see a series of minor interior changes, while Apple fanboys will have to wait till 2017 to see a more technically and stylish iPhone 8.
