Progressive October Profit Declines - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Auto insurance group Progressive Corp. (PGR) said net income for the month of October was $100.6 million, or $0.17 per share, down from $112.3 million, or $0.19 per share in the comparable period last year.

On average, 20 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.42 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net premiums written for the month of October was $1.75 billion, up 5% from prior year's $1.66 billion, with net premiums earned rising 6% year-over-year to $1.76 billion from $1.67 billion. Eleven analysts expected revenue of $4.37 billion for the quarter.
