Google Inc. (GOOG) is gaining 4 percent to $1,183.16. The company's fourth quarter earnings were higher than in the same period last year, but missed Wall Street view. Revenues topped the consensus estimate.
Enanta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ENTA) is rising 20 percent to $38.75. The company announced results from four all-oral, interferon-free, phase 3 studies for the treatment of Genotype 1 Hepatitis C virus infection. The company noted that results confirm previously reported data in genotype 1 patient populations demonstrating high sustained virologic response rates at 12 weeks post-treatment.
Zynga, Inc. (ZNGA) is up 19 percent to $4.26. The company's fourth quarter net loss narrowed from the prior year period. The company also announced an agreement to acquire privately-held NaturalMotion, a mobile game and technology developer, for approximately $527 million. The company also plans to reduce approximately 314 employees, representing 15 percent of its current workforce, as part of its cost reduction plan to generate pre-tax savings in the range of $33 million to $35 million in 2014.
Decliners:
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) is falling 1 percent to $74.00. The company announced that it currently expects underlying earnings per share for the fourth quarter and fiscal 2014 to be at or slightly below the low end of its previously announced guidance range. In addition, the company expects both Walmart U.S. and Sam's Club comp store sales, without fuel, for the 14-week period ending Jan. 31, 2014, to be slightly negative to the guidance provided in its third quarter report.
Mattel, Inc. (MAT) is falling 9 percent to $39.00. The company's fourth quarter profit improved from the previous year period, but missed Wall Street view. Worldwide net sales declined 6 percent and missed the consensus estimate.
Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) is down 8 percent to $369.55. The company's fourth quarter profit surged from the year-ago quarter, but missed analysts' estimate. Sales increased 20 percent, but missed the consensus estimate. The company guided first quarter sales in line with analysts' estimate.
DFC Global Corp. (DLLR) is down 24 percent to $7.98 following the release of its quarterly results.
