Poll: Less Than 10% Of U.S. Owners Plan Upgrade To IPhone 7
(RTTNews) - Sales of the next iPhone won't go through the roof as many expect. An online poll conducted by Quartz found that only 9.3 percent of the U.S. iPhone users are planning to upgrade to the next iPhone if Apple sticks to the same old design of iPhone 6 and 6S.
Meanwhile, about 25.2 percent users have said that they will upgrade if Apple releases a new design this fall.
Apple releases a new redesigned iPhone every alternate years, however, rumors suggest that the new iPhone 7 will sport same design of the iPhone 6 and 6S.
Some market experts expect Apple will break its recent pattern of overhauling the design of its flagship iPhone every two years, and make a series of minor interior changes in the models this fall, and wait till 2017 to release a more technically and stylish iPhone 8.
Sales of iPhones contribute about two-thirds of Apple's revenue and a major chunk of its profit. However, in its second quarter, Apple reported the first-ever year-over-year decline in iPhone sales since its launch in 2007, reflecting a saturated smartphone market. iPhone sales are expected to show another drop in the second quarter as well.
AAPL is currently trading at $99.96, up $0.09 or 0.09% on the Nasdaq.
