McDonald's Increases Hurricane Relief Support to $2 Million

OAK BROOK, Ill., Sept. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) announces that it will donate $1 million to the American Red Cross in support of the relief and recovery efforts for communities impacted by Hurricane Irma. Last week McDonald's announced a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross for Harvey relief efforts as well as an employee match program matching employee contributions up to $250,000.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by Hurricane Irma including members of our McDonald's family," said McDonald's U.S. President Chris Kempczinski. "Following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey last week, we witnessed the generosity and kindness of Americans coming together to help those in need. Once again, as a system, we are ready to do all we can to support the local communities as they recover from the devastation of this storm."

At this time approximately 665 of McDonald's 905 restaurants in Florida are open to serve customers and restaurants are reopening as quickly as conditions allow. Also throughout Florida McDonald's restaurants are providing free meals to first responders.
