James Gager is Named Senior Vice President, Group Creative Director for M•A•C, La Mer and Jo Malone Worldwide

James Gager has been named Senior Vice President, Group Creative Director, a newly created position, overseeing all creative activity for M•A•C Cosmetics, La Mer and Jo Malone brands globally. Mr. Gager will continue to report to John Demsey, Group President of The Estée Lauder Companies and will begin his new assignment immediately.

Mr. Gager’s current position is Senior Vice President Creative Director, M•A•C Cosmetics Worldwide where he has been instrumental in growing the M•A•C brand into the number one makeup artist brand in the world. Since 1999, he has conceptualized all creative activity for the M•A•C brand, with highlights including Barbie for M•A•C, Hello Kitty for M•A•C and Lady Gaga for Viva Glam. He conceptualized the M•A•C Beauty Icon Series celebrating mature beauty featuring Liza Minelli, Catherine Deneuve and Raquel Welch. He has worked with esteemed photographers like David LaChapelle, Michael Thompson, Ellen von Unwerth, Nick Knight and Solve Sundsbo. Mr. Gager also oversaw the creative activity for the Sean John brand. Before joining M•A•C, Mr. Gager was the Creative Director for Prescriptives for 20 years where he created ground-breaking campaigns for Virtual Skin and the visionary, trend-setting All Skins campaign that identified the importance of reaching out to diverse consumers.

Mr. Gager has received numerous awards, including a Fifi for packaging design. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the M•A•C AIDS Fund. He received his Bachelor of Industrial Design and a Master of Science/Package Design from Pratt Institute.
