J&J Ordered To Pay $72 Mln In Baby Powder Cancer Lawsuit

(RTTNews) - A jury in St. Louis, Missouri has ordered Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) to pay $72 million in damages to the family of a woman, who claim that her death caused by ovarian cancer was due to the longtime use of baby powder and other Johnson & Johnson products.

The jury awarded the family of Jacqueline Fox $10 million of actual damages and $62 million of punitive damages, according to the family's lawyers and court records.

Johnson & Johnson faces several hundred lawsuits alleging that the company did not warn its consumers about its talc-based products which could cause cancer.

Fox, who lived in Birmingham, Alabama, died last October at the age of 62. She claimed that the use of Baby Powder and Shower to Shower for more than 35 years were the primary reason behind her ovarian cancer. Her son, Marvin Salter became plaintiff after her death.
