DGAP-News: Grammer AG / Key word(s): Miscellaneous Grammer AG: Foundation stone laid for the new corporate headquarters and technology center in a ceremony with state minister Hubert Aiwanger - Official commencement of construction of Grammer's new corporate headquarters and technology center in Ursensollen in the Amberg-Sulzbach district - Innovation leadership to be reinforced and appeal as a forward-looking employer in the automotive industry to be strengthened - Clear commitment to the Upper Palatinate region and the innovative German economy Amberg, December 4, 2018 - At Grammer Group, an international supplier of components for passenger-vehicle interiors and of seats for commercial vehicles, preparations for the new corporate headquarters and technology center are entering the next phase: after the ground-breaking ceremony at the beginning of March, the foundation stone was laid today for the new building in Ursensollen, Upper Palatinate, in a ceremony attended by Hubert Aiwanger, the Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. A modern, three-part office building complex, which will include the corporate headquarters as well as extensive design and ergonomics laboratories, is being built on the spacious site. Consequently, the development activities of the two divisions - Automotive and Commercial Vehicles - as well as the corporate headquarters will all be under a single roof at a shared site for the first time. This will provide the physical basis for allowing the various departments to work together to optimum effect, for unleashing synergistic effects and for improving the efficiency of the development processes. Construction is proceeding according to plan. The move to the first construction phase will take place at the end of 2019. Looking forward, the four-storey office and administration building will offer around 700 employees a modern and contemporary working environment fitted with the latest technology on a floor area measuring nearly 22,000 square meters. Grammer is investing a total of more than EUR 40 million in two construction phases of what is the largest construction project in its history. "This investment decision provides further proof that rural regions can also generate highly attractive, qualified jobs. Technological developments such as digitization and the Internet or additive management ensure that rural regions can benefit from new opportunities arising from decentralized production, something that we want to actively promote in the interests of achieving balanced development throughout Bavaria. The Bavarian economy stands for innovation and technology. Bavaria regularly ranks very highly in terms of international competitiveness. Strong partners are necessary to ensure that, looking forward, key technologies continue to be developed in and for Bavaria. These partners include local companies such as Grammer AG - globally active groups and successful SMEs - our outstanding research institutes and the Bavarian state government. We are all pulling in the same direction in order to continuously advance Bavaria as a business location," said Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger. Hartmut Müller, CEO of Grammer AG, added: "The construction of our new corporate headquarters and the technology center together with the expansion of our research and development activities arising from this marks an important milestone for a successful future for Grammer. As a leading components supplier, we see ourselves as an innovative development partner to the global automotive industry. With the new technology center in Ursensollen, we will be able to additionally fortify our leading position for innovative interior solutions. At the same time, the investment reflects our commitment to our home in Upper Palatinate." The ceremony marking the symbolic laying of the foundation stone was attended by Grammer AG's executive board together with Hubert Aiwanger, the Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, as well as the district president of Upper Palatinate, Axel Bartelt, the deputy district administrator, Hans Kummert, the mayor of Ursensollen, Franz Mädler, and many others.
