Dennis Swanson Named President of Station Operations for FOX Television Stations Group

Dennis Swanson has been named President of StationOperations, FOX Television Stations Group, announced Jack Abernethy,Chief Executive Officer, FOX Television Stations Group. Swanson willassume his new role on Monday, October 10th.

In making the announcement, Abernethy said, "Dennis is a toptelevision executive with invaluable experience and tremendousknowledge of the television industry. I'm pleased to have him join myteam."

Swanson said, "I look forward to working for Jack Abernethy tobuild the FOX stations to their full potential. Jack has a great trackrecord and knows how to build value in television properties."

Swanson, who will report to Abernethy, will help manage the 35 FOXowned-and-operated stations across the country, including WNYW-TV andWWOR-TV in New York; KTTV-TV and KCOP-TV in Los Angeles; WFLD-TV andWPWR-TV in Chicago; WTXF-TV in Philadelphia; WFXT-TV in Boston; andWTTG-TV in Washington, D.C.

Before joining FOX Television Stations Group, Swanson wasExecutive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, VIACOMTelevision Stations Group, where he oversaw operations of thedivision's television stations. Swanson previously served as presidentand general manager of WNBC-TV in New York, and was president of ABCSports from 1986-1996. He was also president of ABC Daytime and ABCChildren's Programming from 1991-1993. Prior to joining ABC Sports,Swanson was the president of ABC-owned television stations from1985-1986, and earlier served as vice president and general manager ofWLS-TV, the ABC owned-and-operated station in Chicago where he gaveOprah Winfrey her first daytime talk show. Swanson began his career asan assignment editor and field producer for NBC News in Chicago, andcurrently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of theNational Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).
