Computer Programs and Systems, Inc. Announces Opening of Monroe, Louisiana, Office
Computer Programs and Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CPSI), a leading provider of healthcare information solutions, today announced the planned opening of an office in Monroe, Louisiana.
The opening was announced today in Monroe by Governor Bobby Jindal; Boyd Douglas, CPSI’s President and Chief Executive Officer; and city officials. The office is a result of a partnership between CPSI, the State of Louisiana, the City of Monroe and OEDC Land Corporation.
"CPSI selected Monroe over a number of potential locations, and the Company’s decision will have a positive economic impact on the region,” Jindal said. "We are committed to strengthening the region’s economy by helping retain its existing businesses as well as recruiting new businesses, such as CPSI, to invest and create jobs in Northeast Louisiana.”
Sharing in Governor Jindal’s optimism, Boyd Douglas added, "We are excited about our partnership with the State of Louisiana, the City of Monroe and OEDC Land Corporation. We believe the resulting investments and opportunities will be of great benefit to both CPSI and the people of Louisiana. We applaud Governor Jindal’s economic initiatives and look forward to being a part of the success of those initiatives.”
One of the main goals of the partnership is the creation of a total of 100 jobs over the next four years. The office is scheduled to open in July and will immediately bring an initial 20-25 full time jobs. An additional 20 full time positions are expected to be added over the next year. At the end of the four year period, the payroll is expected to total approximately $1.9 million with full benefits. The initial construction and on-going support of day-to-day operations will have a further positive impact on the local economy.
Douglas also pointed out that Louisiana’s economic initiatives are complemented by the state’s healthcare information technology and electronic medical record (EMR) adoption initiatives. In the past two years, the Company has installed EMR systems in nine hospitals in the State of Louisiana, partially as a result of grants that have allowed many of those hospitals to afford these systems.
"The State of Louisiana has certainly been a leader in not only recognizing the benefits of healthcare IT, but in also actively securing those benefits for its citizens,” said Douglas. "CPSI currently has over 40 customer hospitals located in Louisiana and has doubled the number of its customers in the state over the past five years.”
