Amazon Plans 30-Minute Drone Delivery Service

(RTTNews) - Amazon Prime Air is the next big project being worked on by the online retailer.

In an interview with Yahoo News, a top executive shared further details about its drone delivery system.

Paul Misener, Amazon's vice president for global public policy, says Prime Air will deliver packages to customers within 30 minutes of them ordering it online at Amazon.com. It will be able to deliver parcels that weigh up to five pounds.

He also revealed that the company is working on different types of prototypes simultaneously. He further added that different kinds of drones will be required to deliver to customers who live in different kinds of climates, as some customers live in hot, dry, areas, while other live in wet, rainy environments.

Misener also added that these drones are highly safe as they have sense-and-avoid technology, i.e. seeing and then avoiding obstacles.
