After-market Movers For April 23 (MSFT, AMZN, GOOGL, SBUX, JNPR, AERI, ALTR, P)
(RTTNews) - Gainers:
Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) rose 3 percent to $44.71 as its third quarter earnings per share and revenue were above Wall Street estimates.
Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) rose over 5 percent to $412.00. The company slipped to a loss in its first quarter, but its result topped Street view. Net sales increased 15 percent and also came above the consensus estimate. The company forecast second quarter net sales in-line with Street view.
Google Inc. (GOOGL) gained 4 percent to $579.72. The company's first quarter earnings improved from the year-ago quarter, but missed Wall Street view. Revenues for the quarter increased 12 percent, yet were below the consensus estimate. The company said it continues to see great momentum in its mobile advertising business.
Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) improved 6 percent to $52.42. The company's second quarter profit surged from the last year quarter and was in-line with Street view. Revenues were up 18 percent and came above the consensus estimate. The company also backed its fiscal 2015 earnings and revenue targets.
Juniper Networks, Inc. (JNPR) was up 6 percent to $25.36 as its first quarter results surpassed analysts' projections and provided an upbeat outlook for its second quarter.
Decliners:
Aerie Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AERI) plunged 68 percent to $11.35 as its Phase 3 registration trial for Rhopressa, a triple-action eye drop being tested for its ability to lower intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension, did not meet its primary efficacy endpoint.
Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. (UBNT) was down 14 percent to $26.84 after reporting that it currently expects third quarter financial results to be at the low end of the previously-provided ranges and to be below market view. The company also announced that its finance chief Craig Foster has resigned to accept a position with another company.
HomeAway, Inc. (AWAY) was down 12 percent to $28.20 as it slipped to a loss in its first quarter and its non-GAAP earnings per share missed the consensus estimate. Total revenue increased 12.6 percent, but missed market view by a whisker.
Altera Corp. (ALTR) declined 3 percent to $40.90. The cmpany's first quarter profit and sales were lower than in the prior year period and also were below analysts' projection. The company also provided a weak sale outlook for its second quarter.
Pandora Media, Inc. (P) was down 3 percent to $17.20. The company's first quarter loss widened from the prior year, but its adjusted result wasa above market view. Total revenue rose 19 percent and came above the consensus estimate. The company also raised its full year 2015 revenue guidance.
BJ's Restaurants, Inc. (BJRI) was down 8 percent to $49.01. The company's first quarter earnings per share beat Street view, while its revenues missed the consensus estimate.
Netgear Inc. (NTGR) fell 5 percent to $32.50 as its firt quarter earnings missed analysts' estimate. Revenues plunged from the year-ago quarter, but managed to come above the consensus estimate. At the same time, the company forecast second quarter revenues below market view.
