South Africa Leading Index Rises In June
(RTTNews) - South Africa's composite leading index improved slightly in June, survey data from the South African Reserve Bank showed on Tuesday.
The composite leading index rose 0.4 percent month-on-month to 111.7 in June from 111.3 in May.
Compared to a year ago, the index dropped 0.5 percent, versus a fall of 0.7 percent in the prior month.
In June, three of the seven available component time series outweighed decreases in the other four components, the survey said.
The largest positive contributors were an acceleration in the sixmonth smoothed growth rate in the real M1 money supply and an increase in South Africa's US-dollar denominated export commodity price index.
Data showed that the coincident index rose to 95.8 in May from 95.3 in April.
