France Should End Tax Hikes, Says EU's Rehn
(RTTNews) - Raising taxes further could hamper growth and cost jobs in France, EU economic affairs commissioner Olli Rehn said in an interview with French weekly newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche.
He urged the government to take steps to increase public spending instead of raising taxes.
Rehn said the proposed structural reforms were going in the right direction. But they were not far-reaching enough nor being implemented sufficiently quickly.
French President Francois Hollande was expected to unveil more tax increases to raise EUR 6 billion in his 2014 budget.
