Westwood One Elevates David Halberstam to EVP/GM of Westwood One Sports

NEW YORK, March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Westwood One announced today that, effective immediately David Halberstam assumes newly created role of EVP/General Manager of Westwood One Sports. In this role, Halberstam will oversee production, programming, sponsorship sales and strategy related to Westwood One's vast portfolio of play-by-play sports and sports talk programming. Halberstam will continue to be based in Miami and report directly to Westwood One President & CEO Peter Kosann.

David Halberstam joined Westwood One in 1999 as VP of Sports Sales and rose to Sr. VP of Sports Sales and Marketing. Prior to Westwood One, Halberstam held numerous sales management and management positions, including Director of Corporate Sales for the Miami Heat, President of Word Picture Sports (radio rights holder of the NY Knicks and NY Rangers) and VP of Sports for Katz Radio Group. In addition, Halberstam also served as the play-by-play voice of St. John's University Basketball for 10 years (heard on WCBS-AM, and WFAN-AM New York) and play-by-play voice of the Miami Heat for six seasons. In 1999, Halberstam authored the book Sports on New York Radio: A Play-by-Play History published by Masters Press. Halberstam currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his wife Donna and three children.
