Westwood One Announces All-Star Broadcast Team for Super Bowl XXXIX

NEW YORK, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Westwood One, the exclusive network radio home of the National Football League (NFL), is proud to announce the all-star broadcast team for Super Bowl XXXIX: Marv Albert, Boomer Esiason, John Dockery, Bonnie Bernstein, and Jim Gray. Super Bowl XXXIX airs live from ALLTEL Stadium in Jacksonville on Sunday, February 6, 2005. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:00 p.m. ET, followed by kickoff at approximately 6:25 p.m. ET. Super Bowl XXXIX will be heard on over 550 radio stations across America and on American Forces Radio Network.

Westwood One's Monday Night NFL commentators Marv Albert and Boomer Esiason will provide complete play-by-play coverage with John Dockery and Bonnie Bernstein reporting from the sidelines. Jim Gray will host the pre- game, halftime and post-game shows as well as provide interviews and insight from athletes and celebrities in attendance. A one-hour special entitled "Super Sunday," precedes Westwood One's Super Bowl XXXIX coverage at 4:00 p.m. ET. Westwood One's "Sports Illustrated Super Bowl Live" hosted by Dave Sims and Sports Illustrated writer Josh Elliot precedes "Super Sunday" at 2:00 p.m. ET.

In addition to coverage on radio stations nationwide and the American Forces Radio Network, Westwood One will broadcast Super Bowl XXXIX to a national Spanish-speaking audience. Armando Quintero, the lead voice of Westwood One's NFL Futbol Americano, Spanish language broadcasts, will return for his sixth Super Bowl as play-by-play announcer for the network. In addition to serving as the primary radio voice for Dallas Cowboys for 21 seasons, Quintero has called nine Super Bowls overall and four World Series, and is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Indianapolis Colts. Former NFL placekicker and NFL Futbol Americano analyst, Benny Ricardo will return for his second Super Bowl with the network. Ricardo has called six Super Bowls for international television and also performs nationwide as a stand-up comedian.

Westwood One Super Bowl Broadcast Team

Marv Albert, the voice of Monday Night Football on Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports, returns for his third Super Bowl broadcast as play-by-play announcer. For over 20 years, Albert has served as primary play-by-play voice for the NBA on NBC and TNT, along with play-by-play announcing for NFL football, college basketball, boxing, NHL All-Star games, baseball studio and pre-game shows. Albert has won six Cable Ace Awards, three New York Emmy awards and was named New York State Sportscaster of the Year an unprecedented 20 times. In 1997, he was awarded the Curt Gowdy Media Award by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, one of the highest honors given to sports journalists.

Boomer Esiason provides color commentary for Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports' critically acclaimed Monday Night Football broadcast team and this marks his fifth Super Bowl broadcast for the network. Esiason co-hosts The NFL Today for CBS-TV and also served as the Monday Night Football analyst for ABC-TV for two seasons prior to joining Westwood One. One of the most prolific quarterbacks in NFL history, Esiason spent 14 years in the NFL and quarterbacked the Cincinnati Bengals to Super Bowl XXIII. In 1998, Esiason was named NFL MVP by the Pro Football Writers of America and the Associated Press. He also co-hosts Westwood One's weekly NFL preview show In The Huddle with Chris "Mad Dog" Russo.

John Dockery has served as the primary sideline reporter for the past six years for Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports' Monday Night Football broadcasts, and this marks his seventh Super Bowl for the network. Dockery joined Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports in 1980 as an NFL analyst, and served as a reporter for college football from 1986 to 1990. Dockery also served as sideline reporter for NBC Sports' Notre Dame football broadcast for several years and contributed to NBC's coverage of the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Summer Games. Dockery is a former NFL defensive back and was a member of the 1969 New York Jets Super Bowl Championship team.

Bonnie Bernstein returns for her third Super Bowl broadcast with Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports and her first as sideline reporter. Bernstein joined CBS Sports in 1998 as a correspondent for the NFL Today and lead reporter for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championships. Bernstein reports from the sidelines for CBS Sports' NFL broadcasts and is the studio host of the college basketball halftime studio show, "At the Half," "SportsDesk," the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, the U.S. Open Tennis Championships and Hambletonian. She also covers figure skating and track and field for CBS.

Jim Gray joined Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports in 2001 as host of the network's Monday Night Football pre-game and halftime shows and this marks his fourth Super Bowl fulfilling the same role for the network. Gray covers boxing for Showtime, is a contributor to NBC's Today Show and is the sideline reporter for the NBA on ESPN. Gray's credits include: six Olympic Games, Major League Baseball, the 1997 and 1999 Ryder Cups, eight Super Bowls, seven World Series and 12 NBA Finals. Gray has won eight Emmy Awards including the Special Individual Achievement Emmy Award in 1997.

Dave Sims is host of Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports' Super Bowl pre-game show, "Super Sunday" as well as co-host of Sports Illustrated Super Bowl Live. Sims also serves as a play-by-play announcer for Westwood One's weekly NFL and college basketball broadcasts. Sims is also a mainstay on the TV college basketball scene, calling games for ESPN and ESPN Regional TV since 1991. A two-time Emmy Award winner, Sims was recently honored by the American Football Foundation with the 2003 Lindsey Nelson Outstanding Sportscaster Award.
