Wells Fargo Securities Hires Six Senior Investment Bankers

Wells Fargo Securities, part of Wells Fargo & Company, today announced that six senior investment bankers are joining its Investment Banking and Capital Markets division.

"The addition of these experienced senior-level bankers demonstrates our ongoing commitment to growing our investment banking platform,” said Jonathan Weiss, co-head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets. "These bankers bring strong client relationships and specialized industry expertise that will support the continued growth of our business.”

"We’re always looking for ways to enhance the products and services we provide to our investment banking customers,” said Rob Engel, co-head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets. "As client demand continues to increase, we’re excited to add the years of experience, deep industry knowledge and expert execution skills of these six new senior bankers to our already strong and diverse platform.”

The six new hires are:

  • Shawn Cross, Managing Director, Healthcare
    Cross joins Wells Fargo to lead its BioPharma effort and brings a deep knowledge of the healthcare industry that includes more than 14 years of experience in healthcare investment banking with firms such as Alex. Brown & Sons, Deutsche Bank Securities, Thomas Weisel Partners and Burrill & Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Cross will be based in San Francisco and report to John Hudson head of the Consumer, Healthcare & Gaming Investment Banking Group.
  • Adam DeGarmo, Managing Director, Industrial Growth & Services (specializing in Chemicals)
    DeGarmo joins Wells Fargo with 19 years of investment banking experience from J.P. Morgan Chase and its predecessor organizations, where he last served as a managing director in J.P. Morgan’s chemical industry coverage group. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and an MBA from Columbia University. DeGarmo is based in New York City and reports to John Church, head of Industrial Growth and Services.
  • Shane Goodwin, Managing Director, Middle Market Banking Group (head of Southwest region)
    Goodwin has 18 years of M&A, corporate finance and principal investing experience at Wall Street firms including Goldman, Sachs & Co., Citigroup/Salomon Brothers and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). He has advised on numerous M&A assignments totaling over $30 billion in transaction value, has executed over 50 public and private debt and equity investments totaling over $15 billion and has extensive private equity and corporate restructuring experience. Goodwin earned an MBA, with a concentration in finance, from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He is based in Dallas and reports to Sam Farnham, head of Middle Market Banking.
  • John Fowler, Vice Chairman, Healthcare Investment Banking
    Fowler has over 20 years of investment banking experience and most recently served as Vice Chairman and head of European Healthcare at Deutsche Bank. Prior roles include head of the Healthcare Group at Salomon Brothers and head of Healthcare Services at JP Morgan. Fowler also spent several years working in the healthcare industry. He holds undergraduate, MBA and law degrees from the University of Virginia. Fowler is based in New York City and reports to John Hudson, head of the Consumer, Healthcare & Gaming Investment Banking Group.
  • Tim Schar, Managing Director, Equity Capital Markets (specializing in Technology, Media and Telecom)
    Schar joins Wells Fargo from ServiceSource Inc., where he served as Vice President of Finance and interim CFO. He has 18 years of investment banking experience, most recently at Credit Suisse as Managing Director of Global Markets Solutions and Equity-Linked Products, and also five years at Wachovia Securities as head of Convertible and Equity Derivatives Origination. He holds a degree in Economics from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. Schar is based in San Francisco and reports to Andy Sanford, head of Equity Capital Markets.
  • Gerry Walters, Managing Director and head of West Coast Technology
    Walters joins Wells Fargo from Oppenheimer, where he served as Managing Director, head of Internet and Digital Media. Prior to Oppenheimer, he worked at J.P. Morgan from 1999, where he last served as Managing Director and head of the Internet and Digital Media Group providing advisory, equity, equity-linked and debt-financing services to clients. Walters had previously worked as an attorney in private practice. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri and holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law. Walters is based in San Francisco and reports to Jim Broner, head of the Technology, Media & Telecom Investment Banking Group.
