Vertex Pharmaceuticals Q2 Loss Narrows - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (VRTX) Monday reported second-quarter net loss of $57.2 million or $0.26 per share, compared to $64.9 million or $0.31 per share last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.18 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Adjusted net loss for the quarter was $6.2 million or $0.03 per share, compared to net income of $99.8 million or $0.46 per share a year ago.

Total revenues for the quarter dropped to $310.8 million from $418.3 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $308.15 million for the quarter.

Looking forward to the full year, the company now expects revenues of $1.10 billion to $1.2 billion, compared to prior estimate of $1.10 to $1.25 billion. Analysts currently expect the company to post revenue of $1.20 billion for the full year 2013.
