United Continental CEO Oscar Munoz Hospitalized
(RTTNews) - United Continental Holdings Inc (UAL) Friday said its newly appointed CEO Oscar Munoz has been admitted to a hospital.
The airline did not provide any further details about his condition or reason for his hospitalizations. Meanwhile, reports suggest Munoz suffered a heart attack.
The Chicago-based company in a statement said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and we are respecting their privacy." The company said it will continue to operate normally in the meantime.
On September 9, United had announced the appointment of Munoz after Jeff Smisek resigned from his roles as chairman, president and CEO.
Smisek's decision to exit was due to the federal and internal probes associated with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
UAL stock closed Friday's regular trading at $55.97, down $1.79 or 3.10%, in the after-hours trade.
