    Company Showcases Its Robust Serial Device Servers for Medical and Other M2M Applications at MD&M/Electronics West in Anaheim, Jan. 10-12

    TROY Group Inc. (NASDAQ:TROY) today announced the introduction of the TROY500 and TROY505 family of serial device servers. The servers, which enable virtually any device with a serial port to connect to a wired or wireless network for remote monitoring and control, are ideally suited for applications in the medical industry, as well as transportation, industrial and building automation, retail and warehousing, electronic signs, security and access control, and many other M2M applications.
    The TROY500 and TROY505 family of serial servers will be on display Jan. 10-12, 2005, in Booth #1391 at the MD&M/Electronics West show at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.
    The TROY500 series offers RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 serial modes, while the TROY505 series adds the MODBUS protocol used in many industrial applications. Both models can be ordered with a wireless LAN option, which allows connection to 802.11b wireless networks in addition to the 10/100BaseTX Ethernet.
    The TROY500 and TROY505 offer the most security features available in wireless serial device server products available on the market. They include 802.1x Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) with Tunneled Transport Layer Security (TTLS) or Lightweight Extensible Authentication Protocol (LEAP), Open System or Shared Key support with Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encoding, and WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) Personal and Enterprise modes, which utilizes improved encryption via the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP). A rugged steel enclosure bearing an IP40 rating makes for deployment in the toughest of environments.
    Additionally, for device manufacturers or systems integrators who want a fully integrated solution, a secure wired/wireless OEM module is available with all the security and management features above plus added power management capabilities for low power requirements. This allows wireless connectivity to be enabled in battery-operated devices, where minimizing power consumption is critical.
