Torchmark Corp. Profit Climbs 6% In Q3

(RTTNews) - Torchmark Corp. (TMK) announced earnings for its third quarter that advanced compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line totaled $144.0 million, or $1.18 per share. This was higher than $135.6 million, or $1.08 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.12 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 4.5% to $990 million. This was up from $947 million last year.
