    WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2005--The PMI Group, Inc. (NYSE:PMI) announced today that it has appointed Bill Horning to Vice President of Investor Relations. In this role, Mr. Horning's primary responsibility is to manage, direct and oversee all investor relations activities for The PMI Group, Inc. and all of its operating units.

    Mr. Horning joins PMI from Providian Financial Corp. where he served most recently as Vice President of Investor Relations, acting as the liaison between the company and the financial community and managing the company's rating agency relationships. Prior to that, he worked in Providian's Treasury group, managing and executing securitization transactions. Before joining Providian Mr. Horning held positions with the Sumitomo Bank, Ltd., Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin Financial Consulting, and Tullett and Tokyo Forex, all in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Horning holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA from the University of Southern California.
