Business Editors/High-Tech Editors
TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2005--Takachiho Koheki Co., Ltd. and Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) have reached a distribution agreement that will enable Takachiho to sell the complete range of Cypress products to the Japanese market.
Takachiho, a distributor of high-performance CMOS image sensors, began selling Cypress products when Cypress acquired FillFactory in August 2004. This new agreement will enable Takachiho to add many other Cypress products to its distribution portfolio, including Fast SRAMs and other high-bandwidth memories, USB devices, timing technology solutions, physical layer devices, framers, network search engines, and PSoC(TM) programmable mixed signal arrays.
"Takachiho has a very successful track record representing our CMOS image sensors in the Japanese market," said Michael Bollesen, managing director of sales for Cypress in Japan. "The company will help Cypress extend this line into commodity products such as digital still cameras and cell phones."
Hidehiko Yamamura, president of Takachiho, said his company expects to achieve 500 million Yen in Cypress sales this year. "By expanding our Cypress product portfolio to include USB and SRAM products, where Cypress is already a market leader, we believe we will be able to make complementary product sales to existing customers and grow our customer base," he said.
