Channel Embracing Managed Utility IT Services That Address Previously
Complex Convergence-Focused Solutions
SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ:SVVS), a leading global IT utility, today announced that Specialized Association Services (SAS), a full-service association management company whose clientele represent hundreds of thousands of small businesses and self-employed individuals nationwide, has chosen and deployed SAVVIS Enterprise Connect to unify their disparate internal voice and network data requirements onto a single managed platform.
Under terms of the agreement facilitated by Technology Brokerage Group and Broadband.com, key SAVVIS business partners, SAS deployed SAVVIS Enterprise Connect, an IP-based managed voice solution that provides on-net intra-company voice communication and off-net access to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) for domestic long distance and International call termination. As part of the network-based service, SAS gains the added benefit of utilizing SAVVIS' proven global private network to serve as its corporate data network.
"With three separate companies under the SAS moniker, we needed to unify our voice and data communications while improving the performance of our IT infrastructure," said Patrick Montgomery, Executive Vice President of Sales for Specialized Association Services. "We looked at a competing MPLS solution, but quickly realized that hardware investment and complexity issues were going to outweigh any perceived benefits. SAVVIS' ability to provide converged access with higher levels of reliability and flexibility, combined with the fact that it allowed us to actually reduce our capital expenditures made them the clear choice to deliver our voice and data as a network-based service."
Enterprise Connect is part of SAVVIS' suite of fully managed utility voice services that enables enterprises to quickly and easily layer a broad set of telephony services over any voice network, including legacy TDM/PBX-based and next generation IP/SIP-based environments, without purchasing new equipment or software. SAVVIS managed voice services are made possible through a partnering agreement with AccessLine Communications and their best-in-class VoIP service platform that has been integrated into SAVVIS' award-winning global IP network and Hosting Centers.
SAVVIS' utility services are based on the use of virtualization technology combined with highly advanced automated software management and provisioning systems. SAVVIS' approach allows it to dynamically provision and manage its customers' dedicated network, server, and storage solutions from an IT resource pool offering improved performance and flexibility at a lower total cost.
"We're pleased that SAS recognizes the performance and cost benefits of SAVVIS' managed voice services," said Vince DiMemmo, Senior Vice President, Product and Marketing for SAVVIS. "We firmly believe that virtualized utility services are enabling enterprises to pursue new business and growth opportunities as part of the growing emphasis on converged access facilitated by external network and hosting resources."
SAVVIS' approach is new and in sharp contrast to the large carriers and independent voice providers who, while offering VoIP and/or hosted voice services, cannot "mix and match" them with existing legacy systems without additional capital investment. As a result, enterprises cannot readily receive the flexible and scalable solutions they seek without substantial investment new equipment. Based on its edge-focused virtualized networking model, SAVVIS delivers a fully managed service that frees the corporate IT department from the complexities of implementation, management and maintenance, while giving end-users the flexibility to customize their messaging services on-the-fly, via an easy-to-use web portal.
Offered as part of a converged enterprise network, SAVVIS' Enterprise Connect managed utility voice service provides industry-leading QoS and security, as well as, access to a broad set of Hosted Voice Application services that are accessible over any regular phone connection or layered over the Enterprise Connect managed voice solution.
SAVVIS' voice services emulate all of the features inherent in traditional PBX devices and also a wealth of additional features:
