Sensex, Nifty Modestly Higher In Cautious Trade
(RTTNews) - Indian shares were slightly higher on Wednesday after the International Monetary Fund lifted its growth projection for India this fiscal year and Fed Chair Jerome Powell signaled two more quarter-point interest-rate cuts this year, citing a sharp slowdown in hiring.
The benchmark BSE Sensex was up 208 points, or 0.3 percent, at 82,238 in early trade while the broader NSE Nifty index edged up by 72 points, or 0.3 percent, to 25,216.
IRFC gained 1 percent, HDFC Life added 1.5 percent and Tata Communications jumped nearly 4 percent ahead of their earnings results.
Ola Electric rallied 2.3 percent after reports that it is foraying into the energy sector.
Tech Mahindra fell 1.2 percent on reporting a 4 percent decline in quarterly net profit.
ICICI Lombard General Insurance soared 6 percent after it posted 18 percent growth in net profit for Q2 FY26.
Mishra Dhatu Nigam rose about 1 percent on securing a fresh order worth Rs. 306 crore.
