See Chicago from the Inside Out--Only This Weekend

CHICAGO, Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kemper Building in downtown Chicago is sending out a message.

City residents and visitors can see "OPEN HOUSE" spelled out in the skyscraper's windows at night, and it is all in support of the Chicago Architecture Foundation's "Open House Chicago 2013" event coming up this weekend.

Open House Chicago offers a chance to discover the city's hidden treasures, secrets and surprises. On October 19 and 20, guests are invited to go inside and explore 150 special sites—for free—during the weekend event.

Event sites include uncommonly seen and "restricted access" areas of public buildings, factories, historic mansions, private clubs, sacred spaces, schools and cultural institutions, among others. Each site offers unique features and attractions. In 2012, more than 40,000 guests made more than 142,000 visits to more than 150 sites throughout Chicago.

Kemper is opening its 360-degree penthouse observatory of The Kemper Building, offering stunning downtown views of some of Chicago's finest architecture. This weekend is only the second time in more than 40 years that Kemper has invited guests in for this experience.

In addition to the tour at The Kemper Building, guests can enter a raffle for a ready-to-hang photo of the Chicago skyline from the Chicago Architecture Foundation's gift shop.
