    WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2005--SBS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:SBSE)

AVC-cPCI-3009 6-slot Conduction-Cooled System Brings Video and Graphics Data Acquisition Capabilities to in-Flight Avionics
    Systems

-- In-flight frame-grabber captures and processes video signals

-- 2-Channel NTSC FPGA computing processor

-- 3-Channel MIL-STD-1553 interface

-- 6-slot 3U CompactPCI conduction-cooled chassis with +28VDC power supply

Today, at the Navy League's Sea-Air-Space 2005 Exposition, SBS Technologies is continuing its role as a leading provider of embedded computing technology for defense and aerospace applications by announcing the availability of the AVC-cPCI-3009, an advanced embedded 3U CompactPCI ruggedized Situational Awareness Interface Server for in-flight avionics systems.
The AVC-cPCI-3009 is a stand-alone rugged computer designed to capture and process image data from multiple sources on an aircraft. High-performance SBS dual input FPGA-based video capture and compression features for military applications provide the video processing engine in this advanced vehicle computer. Using a powerful FPGA computing processor and integrated MPEG-4 encoder, this integrated system is well-suited for video data recording, surveillance, UAV operations, reconnaissance, and other camera-based applications where video data is captured and transferred over a network.
"The AVC-cPCI-3009 Situational Awareness Interface Server brings video and graphics data processing to a wide range of challenging avionics applications," said David Wessing, Vice President and General Manager of the Government Group. "This in-flight conduction-cooled video frame grabber system is a complete flight-ready graphics processing application and is optimized for harsh environments including shock, vibration, and higher than normal temperatures, offering our partners and integrators time-to-market and cost advantages over in-house designs," continued Wessing.
As a comprehensive flight-ready solution, the ruggedized AVC-cPCI-3009 is designed to capture frames from an NTSC video stream from an aircraft's on-board camera, compress the video frames, and then send the compressed image data over a network to another computer for further processing and display. Using an FPGA-based processor to provide the flexibility of a software application with the performance of a hardware implementation, the AVC-cPCI-3009 Situational Awareness Interface Server brings a high degree of performance to in-flight command and control systems.
Also available as an option is the SBS TS-Series A25 Imaging Development Kit which includes PCI FPGA computing hardware and software libraries that are required for additional software development of the AVC-cPCI-3009. Using the Development Kit, system developers can expand the AVC-cPCI-3009's capabilities on a conventional PC and later port their applications to the target FPGA processor.

    Price and Availability:

Available now, pricing for the AVC-cPCI-3009 Situational Awareness Interface Server starts at US$55,200 in single piece quantities. Also available now, the TS-Series A25 Imaging Development Kit starts at US$7,500.
