Potlatch Corporation Names Thomas Temple Vice President of Wood Products

Potlatch Corporation (NYSE:PCH) today announced the appointment of Thomas J. Temple as vice president of wood products. Temple will join the company November 3, 2008, and replace Richard K. Kelly, who will retire at the end of the year.

Temple, 52, will have responsibility for all aspects of Potlatchs wood products business.

"Toms 25 years of industry experience in both manufacturing and resource management with leading forest products companies in Canada and the U.S. will bring a new dimension of experience to the Potlatch leadership team and wood products business, said Chairman, President and CEO Michael J. Covey.

Temple most recently was vice president of international sales and panel marketing for Canadian Forest Products, Ltd. (Canfor), and was vice president of marketing for Slocan before the two companies merged. He also worked for Rossi American Hardwoods and Plum Creek Timber Company prior to moving to Vancouver, BC, in 2003.

Temple earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Oregon State University and a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of New York at Syracuse. He has served on many industry associations such as the American Plywood Association, Canadian Wood Council, COFI International Market Access Committee and the BC Forestry Innovation and Investment Advisory Board.

Potlatch owns approximately 1.7 million acres of forestland in Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and operates 12 manufacturing facilities that produce lumber and panel products and bleached pulp products, including paperboard and tissue. The company, which employs 3,600 people, also conducts a land sales and development business. Potlatch, a verified forest practices leader, is committed to providing superior returns to stockholders through long-term stewardship of its resources.
