Ogden/Weber Chamber and Humana Partner to Provide Health Solution to Small Businesses
To increase affordable access to health insurance, the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Humana Medical Plan of Utah, Inc. to offer a wellness-oriented, discounted health plan to Ogden/Weber Chamber members with two to 99 employees.
Ogden/Weber Chamber members will have access to a wide variety of health-plan options including Humana’s popular consumer-choice offerings (consisting of high-deductible health plans with health savings accounts) as well as more traditional preferred provider organization (PPO) plans with varying levels of deductibles and copayments. Plus, participating members will have access to health information and industry-leading online tools offered by Humana to help them better manage their benefits.
Established in 1887, Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce represents more than 1,000 businesses in Weber County, including more than 700 small businesses.
"The Chamber encourages member businesses to provide unique discounts and privileges to fellow Chamber members to add value to their relationship and create new business,” said Dave Hardman, president and chief executive officer of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce. "We are pleased to share this new relationship and opportunity to benefit our members.”
"Small businesses are looking for ways to continue offering affordable health benefits to their employees,” Hardman said. "This new program offers small employers more options and choices – at a competitive price – when purchasing health benefits. The program also goes beyond health benefits, providing small businesses with a comprehensive approach to managing their benefits so they are not a drain on the bottom line.”
"We know small business owners in Weber County want to provide health benefits to employees, but often the increasing costs of health care can prevent this desire from becoming a reality,” said Dirk Keyes, president of Keyes Insurance Services.
"The Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce has been asking for this type of solution from carriers for several years,” said Karen Leonardi from Fringe Benefits Analysts. "We’re excited to see that Humana is partnering with Utah chambers of commerce to offer health insurance to small business owners.”
"We are pleased to see Humana of Utah offer this plan to the business community,” said Mark Adams, chief executive officer of Ogden Regional Medical Center. "They are an important partner that offers unique solutions. They have made a positive impact to our community since entering the commercial insurance market two years ago. Even more important, Humana is demonstrating a real commitment to offer insurance alternatives that can help save money for Chamber members.”
"At Humana, we believe one of the best ways a business can control its health care costs is for its employees to become savvy health care consumers, and we actively work with employers to guide their employees towards ways to keep their health costs in check,” said Earl F. Hurst, Humana of Utah president.
The new program is offered by Chamber-member brokers to employers that are members of the Chamber – enabling employers to make more educated decisions in choosing a health plan that best fits their financial needs and those of their employees.
Small business members of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce should contact a local insurance agent/broker to assist in obtaining a quote. For further information contact Humana at (801) 256-6200.
