Office Rivalry Video "Partners” Wins Public’s Approval and $25,000 Grand Prize in GoToMeeting Commercial Contest

It’s zany, funny, cool and slick, and like all the submissions in the GoToMeeting® commercial contest, it drives home the advantages of using Web conferencing to do more and travel less. Judged by the public at large, the "Partners” video produced by Brent Sumner of Southern California was voted the Grand Prize winner of $25,000 plus a shot at being aired on national TV as part of a GoToMeeting advertising campaign. Contest sponsor Citrix Online, a division of Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTXS), today also released the names of the runner-up semi-finalists whose video entries were selected by a panel of judges.

"Partners” is a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek whirlwind of a video that follows two aggressive executives as they compete to close a big deal for their line of sushi-shaped staplers. One of the execs hops a red-eye flight to New York and endures his share of all-too-common travel problems along the way, while his rival seemingly goofs off around the office but successfully closes the big tuna of global deals with one swift GoToMeeting sales call from the convenience of his desk.

"It was a whole lot of fun making this commercial, and I enjoyed bringing a real-life business challenge to life with a big dose of humor,” Sumner said. "I’ve done a lot of work through GoToMeeting during my career, and now being rewarded by Citrix Online for my video is very gratifying.”

"We’re always inspired by how our customers use GoToMeeting, and the impressive entries in this contest truly raised the bar on creativity,” said Bernardo de Albergaria, vice president and general manager for Global Marketing and eCommerce, Citrix Online. "These videos combined humor and originality in bringing to life the story we’re always trying to tell – how easy it is to save time, money and avoid the hassles of travel by using GoToMeeting to conduct an on-the-fly or scheduled online meeting with anyone, anywhere in the world.”

Semi-finalist winners tapped:

Citrix Online also announced four runner-up semi-finalists for the inventiveness of their entries. Each will receive $5,000.

  • Nick Medrud, La Mirada, CA, "Meeting in The Tree”
