Oculus Rift Virtual Reality System Coming In 2016

(RTTNews) - Oculus VR said its much awaited virtual reality headset, Rift, would be available to consumers in the first quarter of 2016.

"The Rift delivers on the dream of consumer VR with compelling content, a full ecosystem, and a fully-integrated hardware/software tech stack," the Facebook-owned virtual reality technology firm said.

Oculus has sold only developer versions of Rift.

The virtual reality headset space is seeing a lot of activity. Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC is expected to come out with its VR headset, Vive in 2016.

Sony's Morpheus headset for its Playstation console is slated for release in the first half of 2016.

Virtual reality headsets will enable users to enjoy a greater sense of involvement in a video game or any other interactive content. Both Rift and Vive would work with PCs.
