Oakland A's and Giants Players Slated to Help Safeway and the Prostate Cancer Foundation Raise Funds and Awareness at a Pre-Father's Day ''Grill Off''

WHAT: This Friday in San Francisco representatives from Safeway Inc.
(NYSE:SWY), The Prostate Cancer Foundation, and UCSF Medical
Center will be joined by four major league baseball players to
promote prostate cancer awareness and the importance of early
detection with a fun and informative event at Safeway's 16th
Street store. The Safeway Homerun Grill-Off for Father's Day,
which takes place just hours before the Oakland A's take on
the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park, is part of Safeway's
annual Prostate Cancer Awareness campaign.
Along with noted UCSF cancer researcher Dr. Kirsten Greene,
Safeway Executive Vice President Larree Renda will explain the
company's dedication to prostate cancer and other cancer
causes. The company is one of the largest corporate supporters
of cancer awareness and research. Mayor Gavin Newsom and
Assemblywoman Fiona Ma will lend their support.
Dr. Dean Ornish and Hall of Fame Manager Tommy Lasorda will
attend the event and help judge a grilling and sports trivia
competition that pits Oakland A's Mike Sweeney and Mark Ellis
against San Francisco Giants Aaron Rowand and Dave Roberts.
