Nuance Results Top Estimates

(RTTNews) - Nuance Communications Inc (NUAN), a provider of voice and language solutions, on Thursday reported first-quarter net earnings of $50.5 million or $0.16 per share compared with $55.4 million or $0.18 per share last year.

Excluding non-cash stock-based compensation expense and other items, the company's adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.25 per share compared with $0.24 per share a year ago.

Nuance's revenues for the quarter were $474 million compared with $470 million in the prior year. Adjusted revenues were $489 million versus $490 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.22 per share on revenues of $487 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
