KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2005--North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, one of the nation's largest health systems, has partnered with Cerner Corp. (Nasdaq:CERN) to bring innovation into its laboratories with the leading healthcare information technology company's unified technology.
"Selecting Cerner affords this health system a great opportunity to expand and seamlessly integrate our system's laboratories," said Robert Stallone, vice president of laboratories at the North Shore-LIJ. "As one of the country's largest provider-based reference laboratories, we are in a fantastic position to dramatically improve our processes and increase the quality of care by way of more thorough assessments and simplified laboratory procedures."
Cerner offers a unified, proven set of clinical solutions designed to fully automate clinical and management processes in the laboratory. With the unified Cerner Millennium(R) architecture, North Shore-LIJ will introduce a comprehensive approach that will streamline complex workflows, help to eliminate errors and improve the quality and performance of all its laboratories.
"Twenty-five years ago, Cerner created its first piece of healthcare information technology, and that first solution was a laboratory information system," said J.P. Fingado, Cerner vice president and general manager. "Because our roots are in laboratory systems, we've proven we understand laboratories and deliver the very best technology to improve turnaround time and efficiency, reduce costs and ultimately improve patient care. The decision by North Shore-LIJ to have Cerner host their Millennium PathNet(R) solutions at our data center shows their confidence in our ability to deliver superior performance, increased security, reliability and scalability."
