    REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 2005--

Helge Scheil Becomes SVP R&D and CTO, David Hurwitz, CMO

Niku Corporation (Nasdaq: NIKU), the leader in IT Management and Governance (IT-MG) solutions, today announced the promotions of two key executives. These moves reflect Niku's strong historical growth, and support the company's plans for continued market expansion.
Helge Scheil, previously vice president of technology, is now senior vice president of research and development and CTO. Scheil succeeds Mark Moore, who is leaving Niku to found a consumer-oriented start-up company. David Hurwitz, previously vice president, marketing and strategy, is now CMO.
"Helge and David have been paramount in creating Niku's combination of product excellence and marketing success, which together have propelled Niku to our market leadership position," said Niku chief executive officer, Josh Pickus. "Their accomplishments have been outstanding, and these promotions recognize their respective roles in making the company stronger than ever, and in continuing to push Niku forward."
Helge Scheil has served as the chief architect of Clarity(TM) during his four-year tenure with Niku. His visionary leadership was recognized when Clarity was awarded the Best Solution award at the recent Gartner PPM Summit in Monte-Carlo, Monaco. In particular, Scheil envisioned and then managed the architectural development of Clarity and Clarity Studio, resulting in the product's unmatched scalability, extensibility, and programming-free tailoring capability. Most recently he led the team that developed "system partitions," the architectural enhancement that enables Clarity customers to govern globally, yet manage locally.
Scheil has nearly two decades of software development experience spanning both the United States and Europe. He previously worked for Oracle Corporation for five years, where he held a variety of management positions within Oracle's application division in Redwood Shores and in Germany. Prior to that, he worked for Philips Medical Systems. Scheil holds a BA degree in economics and computer science from the University of Hamburg.
Hurwitz was instrumental over the last two years in positioning Niku as the leader of the high-growth IT Management and Governance market, and in dramatically expanding Niku's pipeline of sales opportunities. He also led Niku's successful foray into open source software through the Open Workbench initiative, and is now positioning Niku as the early leader in the emerging market for New Product Development planning and management systems.
Hurwitz, a 20 year Silicon Valley veteran, has played a key role at a number of enterprise applications companies including Perfect Commerce, ConsenSys and ASK. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, and is a member of the CMO Council and the Project Management Institute.
